Tropical Heat

Today I went with some friends to visit another friend who was having her vacation on a camping nearby.

We had a nice, lazy day sunbathing and swimming in the lake with lots of fun. We ended the day with a drink and a few snacks.

This dress is an old one, but I still love to wear it!

With a simple pair of heels you're almost ready. For the finishing touch I choose a pair of big, golden earrings that have a kinda gipsy style.

My own made bikini.

I made this one a year ago. Reason I made it is that I've wanted a fifties style bikini for a very long time, but couldn't find anything that I liked or that was fitting well.

I'm so happy with this one. It fits so good. It's just me!

I always wear jewelry with my bikini. Since I don't want to lose something precious, I always have a pair of cheap earrings to wear with my bikini. So in case of losing them its not a big deal. To lessen the chance that I lose my earrings. I placed al little peace of rubber on the back of the hook-formed pin. The rubber is almost always on the back of a cheap pair of earrings. The earrings are fitted with these rubber bands to stay on the pricetag. Moste people just throw them away, but I think they are very usefull.

This is how I made the bikini:

For the top, I used a bra from Hunkemöller. I sewed elastic shoulder straps on the bra so I was sure I woudn't lose any of the straps by swimming and I'd would hold everything up.

For the bottom, I bought a fabric that is especialy made for swimsuits.

I started with making a simple pencil skirt out of it. Then I wrinkled it up and sewed it with needle and threat on both sides and on the middle of the back untill it was a short skirt. Inside that skirt I fixed the crotch of a old bikini pants.

For a beautiful and glamorous finishing touch, I sewed some shiny stones onto the bikini.

One of the things that I wasn't sure about was if the bra would keep it's color. Another thing was that I was worried about was if it would keep it's proper form. To my surprise the bra stays beautifully black and keeps its's form.

The shorts come with a white jacket, but I like to wear it like this too.

The black tailored jacket had pearl buttons. Though I liked black buttons better so I replaced them.

My new sunglases do make me think of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the glasses that Johnny Depp is wearing in the movie. I really like that crazy image. It has a beautiful retro style with an innovative curl on the side. It's inspired on sunglasses of Prada.

Finally I've got them!

I just came home and found a note from the delivery service that my package was delivered at the neighbours. At first I thought: “Can it really be my new shoes already?” I couldn't believe it! It really we're my Jennie Ellen shoes! I have being waiting for these for so long.

I had seen them on facebook at first. It took so long before the webshop existed and for them to be able to ship to the Netherlands.

I'm so enthousiastic that I had to share it! I made some pictures with my phone.

The shoes are almost transparent. Even the heels are transparent and they feel very comfortable. I hardly notice I'm walking on heels.

Ways to Wear

These are my two ways to wear this outfit. For a elegant look wear heels and a clutch. For a more casual look combine it with sneakers.

The white leather envelope clutch is officially an Ipad sleeve/case. When I was looking for a white leather envelope clutch, everything I found was way to expensive. The Ipad sleeve looks excactly the same as the one I wanted to have. It is made of soft eco-leather, but costs only one-tenth of the price of the other envelope clutch.

Because my garden looks like the rain forest today, it gave me new inspiration.

The leather bag around your arm is very practical when you're going out or another activity where a (large) bag can be inconvenient. You could even wear it on your boots. Also when wearing a evening dress you can wear the strap-on-bag around a leg. This is ever so usefull to keep your small, personal belongings like a cellphone or money.

Several items of the autumn and winter collection have been arriving these last few weeks. During this time the spring and summer clothes are on SALE!

I like to buy clothes from the best brands when there is sale like this, because then it's payable. This sweater is one of my favorite sale purchases. It has the feel of a lazy sunday sweater, while it has a very faminine neckline and is made of a fabric that drapes beautifully around the body.

The ring I bought from a shop were I worked when I was fourteen years old. You can still order this particular brand on the internet. It's made all of silver. This prevents it from decline and the ring will stay as beautiful as when I first bought it.
